Vista Guild Welcomes Fall with “Vista Nights,” Third Thursday in the Vista

COLUMBIA, SC – The Congaree Vista Guild, a non-profit, membership-based organization made up of a wide variety of restaurant, shop, business and gallery owners, homeowners and museums in the Vista, announces its plans for September’s Vista Nights. This event, which is free and open to the public and will take place on the third Thursday of each month, is Thursday, September 18, 5-8 p.m.
This month, to kick off the fall season, the Vista Guild will have plenty of live entertainment on the streets in the neighborhood during Vista Nights, including Dave Britt, Zach Bingham Trio, Marina Alexander, Prettier than Matt, The Jonathan Palance Trio and the Dandridge Sisters.
Additionally, the Vista Guild’s free, downloadable App will contain special deals and values at Vista businesses, such as:
· Frank’s Gentlemen’s Salon: Free shoe shines from 5-8 p.m.
· SakiTumi: Fifty cent sushi and $3 pints.
· Studio O2: $20 discount on initial oxygen sessions and 10 percent discounts on salon services.
The Vista Guild organizes this event to offer later shopping hours at our most popular galleries and retailerson Thursday evenings, which are already bustling with diners and hotel guests in the neighborhood’s restaurants and bars.
August Vista Nights participating galleries and retailers include:
· City Art, 1224 Lincoln Street, will present The Art of Kirkland Smith in the main gallery. This exhibit will hang through October 11.
· Ellen Taylor Interiors, 1012 Gervais Street, featuring artist Jennifer Hamilton’s paintings. Wine will be served to patrons.
· Frank’s Gentlemen’s Salon, 717 Lady Street, tour the new salon, which provides men with traditional barbershop services in modern style. Complementary shoe shines with any service or walk-in during Vista Nights.
· if ART Gallery, 1223 Lincoln Street, Current solo exhibitions by Eric Miller: The Technology of Bricks and by Marcelo Novo: Paintings 2012-2014.
· Lewis & Clark ,1001 Huger Street, a selection of Clark Ellefson’s new lamps and robots and mid-century bucket chairs in period colors. Celebrating the intriguing dialog between tin robots and beer in cans.
· One Eared Cow, 1001 Huger Street.
· Studio Cellar, offering a 10 percent discount with coupon (available on website) on Freestyle and Paint classes.
· Vista Studios/Gallery 80808, 808 Lady Street, featuring “Operatic Threads,” with paintings by Tish Lowe with performances of highlights from familiar musicals and the Jasper magazine September/October issue release party.
“Thursday evenings are always alive in the Vista with diners packing our restaurants and tourists in our hotels,” said Sarah Lewis, executive director of the Congaree Vista Guild. “We’ve seen the need for some our galleries and retailers to stay open a little later on Thursdays, and we’re excited that Vista Nights has become a regular monthly events, where many of our businesses will stay open beyond their regular business hours. Shoppers can wind their way through the Vista and stay to eat at one of our restaurants or attend a special event at one of our museums.”
Parking, as always, is available in the Vista’s parking garages at 820 Washington Street and at the corner of Senate and Pendleton Streets behind the Hilton.
